WFS welcomes Asiana Cargo at MXP

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has won the handling contract for Asiana Airlines’ freighter services at Milan Malpensa airport (MXP). The South Korean carrier operates three Boeing B747 freighter flights a week from the Italian cargo hub to Seoul. WFS expects to handle 15,000 t of cargo annually for Asiana.

The contract is a further justification of WFS’ decision to invest in a new cargo terminal at the airport, which has the capacity to handle around 47,000 t a year. Opened two years ago, the 8,800 sqm facility includes a cool zone for temperature-controlled shipments, and also serves other leading international airlines.

While MXP represents WFS’ first cargo-handling facility in Italy, the company also provides cargo documentation services for airlines in Rome and Venice. (ah)
