Schenker continues to invest in the railway sector in Norway and has commissioned the state-owned Swedish railfreight company Green Cargo to carry out rail transports between Oslo and Narvik. A NOK 100 million (EUR 9.8 million) supply contract was signed to this effect recently. It replaces the existing agreement with Cargo Net. The contract relates to Schenker‘s rail product North Rail Express.

As from 1 January 2020 Green Cargo will operate five trains per week and direction on Schenker’s behalf. The trains will run between Oslo and Narvik and each have a capacity of 52 teu.

They will carry consumer goods, salmon, pharmaceuticals and other industrial products. The cooperation with Green Cargo gives Schenker access to state-of-the art and reliable equipment which will help improve the quality of its transport services. (ben)
