Spliethoff confirms fatality

Dutch shipping company Spliethoff has confirmed the death of a crew member from the 'Minervagracht', who succumbed to injuries sustained during the houthi attack on the vessel in the Gulf of Aden (pictured) on 29 September. The company expressed its "deepest sympathies" to the seafarer’s family and colleagues, noting that the news has profoundly affected everyone at Spliethoff. According to the company most of the crew have since been safely repatriated, while one injured member remains under medical care in Djibouti in stable condition.
"Finally, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to the crew, and their families for the strength and resilience they have shown throughout this ordea," stated the company. Spliethoff said it continues to support affected families and thanked the authorities involved in the rescue and repatriation efforts. (js)
