Nippon Paint joins RightShip decarbonisation drive

Nippon Paint Marine has joined RightShip’s 'Zero Harm Innovation Partners' programme to promote ESG transparency and accelerate maritime decarbonisation.
The agreement includes data sharing and validation for Nippon Paint’s low-friction hull coatings 'Aquaterras', 'Fastar' and 'A-LF-Sea'. All three reduce fuel use and emissions by over 14% compared to conventional coatings.
'Aquaterras' offers biocide-free protection using polymer-based microstructures, while 'Fastar' and 'A-LF-Sea' use 'HydroSmoothXT' hydrogel to minimise drag.
President Gladys Goh (on the right, with RightShip director Ajinkya Kadam) emphasised the need for long-term collaboration and transparency to help shipowners reach net-zero by 2050. Nippon Paint Marine's solutions have already helped save 45 million t of CO₂ on thousands of vessels. (ah)
