Marking 100 years of Hong Kong airport system
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has opened the "Centennial Exhibition of Hong Kong Airport Development", tracing milestones from Kai Tak to Chek Lap Kok and the present. The show, open until 8 November, highlights HKIA’s growth as a passenger hub and its steady rise in global cargo.
From early freight flights at Kai Tak to today’s position as the world’s busiest cargo airport, Hong Kong has become a key gateway for the Greater Bay Area. AAHK CEO Vivian Cheung (second from the right) said the Three-runway System and new Terminal 2 will drive the next phase under the Airport City "Skytopia" plan. Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan (second from the left) stressed HKIA’s vital role in linking regional exports with international markets.
The exhibition blends 100 years of history with a vision of Hong Kong’s cargo-driven future. (ah)
