Furniture dealer opts for rail transport

A.P. Moller - Maersk and Ikea have shifted container transports on a 100 km long stretch between the port of Barcelona and the Tarragona terminal from truck to rail.
The intermodal solution is managed and operated by APM Railways. The last part of the journey, from the Tarragona terminal to Ikea’s Valls distribution centre (30 km), is still covered by truck.
With an estimated annual volume of 10,000 containers, this shift will reduce Ikea’s carbon footprint on this route by 75%. (ben)
