ESPO award 2020 goes to Port of Algeciras

On 10 November 2020, the Port of Algeciras won the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) award 2020 for its project "The Journey of Innovation – Travecía de la Innovación", during a dedicated ESPO award digital ceremony. In its 12th edition this year, the ESPO award received seven submissions.
Pat Cox, chairman of the jury: "Algeciras was the jury's consensual choice, in the end, because it has developed a successful strategy to attract innovation and local start-ups. It has a proven record of achievement, a strong focus on involving port partners, and it has exhibited close cooperation with key national, regional and municipal stakeholders, thus underpinning its successful and innovatory ecosystem."
