Digital tool to ease border trade
Central American countries are set to roll out a digital platform to monitor trade facilitation reforms and strengthen regional integration. The Reform Tracker, developed by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) with the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and backed by EU funding, will aim to streamline border processes, reduce costs and modernise border management.
The tool was launched at a workshop in San José, Costa Rica, in June. UNCTAD will provide technical support, training and advisory services to help countries implement reforms, cut crossing times and move towards interoperable digital trade systems. (js)
