Bremenports' new digital tool

Both ports in Bremen are now linked digitally.

In cooperation with the Bremen (Germany)-based IT services provider Abat and its subsidiary ID-Impuls, bremenports has overhauled the software it has been using for billing port charges.

Managing director Robert Howe: "The aim of the project was to ensure that our processes are customer-friendly, transparent, fast and above all secure so that we are fit for the future with this new technology."

The new solution, named HGB 4.0, will accelerate procedures for the ports' staff and their customers. By sharing a database, the two ports reduce expenditure and avoid technical errors and problems with allocation to the individual port.

In a future phase, the new programme will also be able to speed up and improve the assessment of statistical data. (mw)
