BNSF’s new express service halves transit times

The US class I railway runs a new carload service from Pacific Northwest to Colorado and Utah, offering speeds comparable to road options. The route uses the new Sandpoint junction connector rail bridge, completed in 2022, allowing for two-way traffic on the bridge, which crosses Lake Pend Oreille.

The new service will enable BNSF customers to ship products to key markets, including items like food and beverages, lumber and other building materials.

It expands on the railroad’s service portfolio covering 28 states in the USA and three Canadian provinces and complements existing services from the Pacific Northwest to Texas, launched in 2017, BNSF said. (ben)
