Throughput in Spanish ports increased in 2019
Overall, container flows rose in Spanish ports in 2019.
According to the latest data until and including November 2019 released by the Spanish state ports, the Puertos del Estado handled a total of 508.8 million t of merchandise in the first 11 months of 2019. This is a rise of 1.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. 49.7% of the cargoes were general merchandise, 33.8% liquid bulk and the remaining 16.5% were solid bulk.
Between January and November, the Spanish ports moved 16.1 million teu, amounting to an increase of 2.2%, of which 8.7 million teu (+ 1.8%) were containers in transit, 5.6 million teu (+ 4.0%) international shipments and 1.8 million teu domestic shipments (-1.0%). (mw)
