The German leasing company VTG is equipping container wagons and double pocket wagons with the SWS PowerBox and thus expanding its range for the transport of temperature-controlled goods by rail.
The system enables an autonomous and eco-friendly power supply for cooling or heating loading units. A hydraulic pump attached to the wheelset with a connected generator generates electricity during the journey.
This can be used to optimally temper reefer containers, swap bodies and tank containers as well as refrigerated semi-trailers for shipping fruit, vegetables, meat, fish or medicines. The system was developed by the Austrian technology company SWS Power Solutions. (ben)
