Silvasti completes pioneering project for Ilmatar
Silvasti has successfully completed its pioneering transportation crane installation (TCI) project for Ilmatar Energy, delivering 30 wind turbines at the Pahkakoski site in Ii, Finland. The project, executed with Silvasti’s new TCI concept, was finished safely, ahead of schedule and without any lost-time incidents. The innovative approach enabled record-speed turbine installation and generated significant cost and environmental savings by reducing waiting times for cranes and transport operations, as well as limiting the need for extensive civil works and tree clearing.
The project drew on Silvasti’s decades of experience in wind logistics and involved leading partners, including BMS Heavy Cranes for crane operations and Global Wind Service for installation, with Vestas supplying the turbines. Ilmatar praised the efficiency and sustainability benefits of the TCI model, noting meaningful cost savings and streamlined execution. Silvasti’s CEO, Ville Silvasti, highlighted the concept’s value in a challenging investment climate and stressed its potential to support Europe’s energy and climate goals. Following this successful pilot, Silvasti plans to offer the TCI approach for future wind farm developments to deliver cost-efficient, lower-impact construction.
