Schöni continues to invest in biodiesel fleet

Photo: Schöni

Manufacturer Scania has delivered four new trucks to Schöni, expanding the Swiss transport company’s green fleet. There are already 45 vehicles in use in Switzerland that run exclusively on biodiesel (B100), making up around 40% of the fleet.

This biodiesel is produced from residual materials such as meat waste, animal carcasses and used cooking oil (FAME). The combustion of this fuel produces mainly biogenic CO2, which is removed from the atmosphere when the biomass is created and is therefore not of fossil origin and has no impact on the climate. Schöni put the four new B100 vehicles from Scania into service for nationwide transports a few days ago. (ben)
