Ro-ro terminal at Stockholm in the making
New nordic ramps in installation.
The last two of nine ramps for rolling goods have been installed at the Stockholm Norvik Port. Five were delivered to the recently newly rebuilt Värtahamnen Port and two to the reconstructed Port of Kapellskär.
The ro-ro terminal is scheduled to open in September and will be operated by Ports of Stockholm. The two quay-berths for ro-ro vessels are 230 mlong and 280 m long, respectively, with respective depths of 10.5 m and 10 m.
The ramps each weigh 150 t, are 30 m wide and have a length of 16 m. Both the quays and the ramps are dimensioned to be able to handle vessels larger than those that currently call at Ports of Stockholm. (mw)
