MOL donates wind challenger model to IMO

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has donated a scale model of the Shofu Maru, the world's first coal carrier fitted with the Wind Challenger wind propulsion system, to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The presentation was made at the Wind Propulsion Reception hosted by the International Windship Association (IWSA) in London, attended by over 200 shipping industry stakeholders.
MOL showcased its initiatives to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) through wind propulsion technology, fuel diversification, and operational efficiencies. The company plans to actively promote wind propulsion and engage with international bodies like the IMO to advance industry-wide efforts toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, highlighting its commitment to sustainable maritime development.
