Modernising the ULD fleet for greener operations

Swiss WorldCargo has completed the rollover of more than 3,300 leased ULDs of types AKE and AKH, replacing them with lighter models that save up to 900 t of fuel and 2,770 t of CO₂ annually.
In partnership with Jettainer the cargo division also introduced over 1,500 new PMC and PAJ pallets, supporting safer and more sustainable operations.
The transition is a key step in Swiss WorldCargo’s long-term climate strategy. "This marks not just the evolution of our cargo operations, but also our commitment to a future in which efficiency and sustainability move forward together – lighter containers, heavier impact," said Miguel Seco, the head of global business excellence.
Jettainer's Dr Gert Pfeifer added that ULDs are a major lever for greener aviation, underscoring the success of this strategic fleet renewal. (ah)
