Scannell properties has broken ground on a 36,700 m² build-to-suit cold logistics centre in Steinau an der Straße, north of Frankfurt, developed for Lactalis in partnership with ID logistics. The facility will feature two cooling units for the handling of dairy products and is scheduled for completion in Q3 2026, with Fabrikon as general contractor.

"Demand for modern cold storage is rising, amongst others driven by ageing facilities," said Jan Imfeld, Scannell’s country head Germany. ID logistics Germany CEO Robin Otto said the project will provide 10,000 m² of capacity for future growth. Tiago Lopes, supply chain director of Lactalis Germany, called the site a strategic step to strengthen operations and sustainability goals, centralising the company’s logistics hub for long-term growth in the German market.
