IRU, ETF demand clarity

The IRU and European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) are urging the European Commission to clarify the application of posted driver pay rules under Mobility Package 1. In a joint letter to commissioners Roxana Mînzatu and Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the social partners request a standardised EU template "where clear and comprehensive information on national remuneration and its components should be published and regularly updated", as the companies stated.

While the 2020 Mobility Package mandates that posted drivers earn at least the host country’s minimum remuneration, complexity made compliance difficult and costly—especially for SMEs, argue the companies. IRU’s Raluca Marian warns: "companies are practically obliged to seek expensive compliance advice from expert consultants". (js)
