Intermodal service Alsace - Belgium launched

The 48-teu container train runs between the Lauterbourg Rhine Terminal (LRT) in Alsace (France) and the port of Antwerp in Belgium. The low-CO2 service was launched by Bolloré Logistics and is operated in partnership with LRT, Haeger & Schmidt, Wascosa, Fret SNCF and MSC.

The aim is to further promote the modal shift from road to rail, the partners said. The new train is also in line with the ports of Strasbourg’s efforts to advance an eco-friendly development of the multimodal hub near Strasbourg and expand it into a central railway hub by 2030. (ben)
