China’s first automated mooring system goes live
Dubai-based Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has secured a contract to supply its ‘AutoMoor’ automated mooring system to a major Chinese container terminal, marking the first deployment of this rope-free technology in China.
Designed to streamline vessel docking, it will be integrated into the terminal's infrastructure to support faster, safer mooring operations and enable the handling of 400 m vessels. This move boosts efficiency and sustainability by lowering emissions and reducing energy consumption during mooring.
Trelleborg’s system, which includes ‘always active mechanical damping’, ensures vessel stability even in tough conditions. The technology is expected to go live within months, positioning the terminal as a leader in port automation in Asia. (ah)
