The British International Freight Association (Bifa) has launched a new cargo community advisory body to support Heathrow airport’s ambitious redevelopment of its cargo village and associated freight management systems. The group will serve as a key link between forwarders, stakeholders and the airport authority, focusing on operational challenges and modernisation.

Steve Parker (second from the left), Bifa ’s director general, said the group would give members a central role in shaping the future of cargo operations at Heathrow. Andy Cooke (right), former DHL executive, will lead the group, bringing extensive industry expertise together.

Working closely with BT, the advisory body will also support the upgrade of CCS-UK and digital coordination across the cargo chain. It was officially launched on 29 April at the BT Tower in London, where members shared input on upcoming changes and Bifa encouraged wider participation as plans move forward. (ah)
