The Japanese shipping company MOL has inked a multi-year contract with Total Energies Gas & Power Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Total, to charter a newbuild LNG carrier.

The vessel currently being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering is fitted with an ME-GA engine which provides lower emissions compared to previous generation vessels. It is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system that reduces methane slip while improving overall fuel consumption.

The vessel will have cargo tank capacity of 174,000 cbm, an overall length of 294.9 m and a breadth of 46.4 m. With this size, it will be able to serve the main LNG terminals worldwide. The vessel will be delivered in 2025. (sh)
