Just ahead of the Paris Air Show 2025, which runs from today, 16 June, until 22 June, Airbus released its latest 'Global Market Forecast', projecting a 60% increase in air cargo traffic by 2044.

This growth will drive demand for 970 new freighters over the next two decades, including 550 dedicated widebodies and 420 conversions. E-commerce, express services and regional trade are key growth drivers. Airbus expects the global freighter fleet to reach 3,230 units by 2044.

The forecast aligns with the rollout of the A350F programme, for which the first wingset was recently completed in Broughton. With 63 orders to date, the A350F offers 20% lower emissions, 111 t payload and the widest cargo door in its class, aiming to set new standards in long-haul efficiency. (ah)
