Stopping illegal exports of Apple devices

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized over USD 100,000 worth of unmanifested Apple products at New Castle, Delaware, on 26 August 2024.

The shipment, destined for China, included 469 new Apple items such as iPads, Watches, and AirPods, misdeclared with a value of USD 3,000, violating US export laws.

CBP emphasised that such violations raise concerns about illicit activities, and the enforcement is critical to safeguarding the USA’s security interests. The incident highlights the importance of accurate documentation in global trade. (pb)
