Rhenus to grow in Amsterdam Port

Photo: Rietlanden Terminals

The Rhenus Group is set to acquire a 49.99 % stake in Rietlanden Terminals, which operates two terminals at the Port of Amsterdam, Europe's fourth largest seaport. This move strengthens Rhenus' European port network and aligns with the Port of Amsterdam's sustainability strategy to end coal handling by 2030.

Rhenus plans to re-develop the terminals for a coal-free future. Jera Global Markets will retain a controlling majority share until 2027.

Subject to approvals, the strategic acquisition will enable Rhenus to double its terminal capacity in the Netherlands by 2027 and contribute to the region's energy transition. (pb)
