Rail Gate Bremerhaven opens for business
Eurogate has inaugurated its new Rail Gate Bremerhaven terminal, which officially entered operation on 1 July. Located in the Eurogate Container Terminal Bremerhaven, the rail facility adds six 762 m tracks on a 80,000 sqm compound, enabling up to 330,000 containers to be handled annually, according to the company.
The EUR 70 million investment was celebrated in the presence of Bremen’s mayor Dr Andreas Bovenschulte and economic senator Kristina Vogt.
Eurogate deployed four remote-controlled gantry cranes, operated from gatehouse 4. The project aims to strengthen Bremerhaven’s intermodal capabilities and supports future-oriented logistics jobs such as remote crane operators. (js)
