No more pin codes in Antwerp

Starting on 15 January 2024, the port of Antwerp-Bruges will implement the certified pick-up system for the release of import containers, replacing the current pin code system.

This mandatory digital platform ensures a safer, more transparent, and efficient container transport process. All relevant parties, including shipping companies, agents, terminals, forwarders, inland shipping, rail, and trucking operators, must register before the implementation date. Containers will only be released after operator identification and customs verification through certified pick up.

Managed by NxtPort, a subsidiary of the port of Antwerp-Bruges, the system aims to enhance security by using identity verification and improve operational efficiency and safety. Initially, it will be applied at Antwerp's deep-sea terminals, with other terminals to follow shortly. Zeebrugge terminals will not be included in the initial phase. (pb)
