New type of rail car to carry more cargo

Photo: DB

DB Cargo and VTG have been given the green light for series production of their jointly developed m2 wagon. The new model is intended to make railfreight transport significantly more economical.

A single freight wagon can be quickly converted and reconfigured as required in terms of length, intended use and body for a range of completely different loads. Depending on the intended use, the wagons can be configured with a load length ranging from around 10 to over 22 m.

Customers can also choose from a variety of bogies, wheel sets or brakes (block or disc brakes). This allows the wagons to be customised according to requirements, such as weight, mileage or cost. (ben)
