Nestlé India has launched an automated and paperless distribution centre in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Completed in seven months, the facility includes 20,000 pallet positions, India’s first shuttle racking system, and a large cold room for chocolate storage.

The site features the planning tool Digital Twin, AI-enabled CCTV, sensor-equipped handling equipment, and a digital rack inspection system. "Efficiency, agility, safety and sustainability are integral to our value chain", said Varun Gupta, Head, Supply Chain, Nestlé India. On the Sanand-Bhiwandi route, 25% of Nestlé's cargo now moves via alternative fuel, "in line with our commitment to Net Zero goals" he adds. (js)
