Moldovan cargo carrier exempted from EU ban

The update of the EU air safety list brings positive news for Angola, as its national carrier Taag Angola Airlines and the air charter Heli Malongo, both operating under restrictions since 2008, have been released from the list.

On the other hand, all carriers from Moldova, with the exception of Air Moldova, Fly One and Aerotranscargo, have been included due to a lack of safety oversight by the state’s civil aviation authority. The Dominican Republic and Belarus have been put under heightened scrutiny because of signs of a decrease in safety oversight.

A total of 120 airlines are now banned from EU skies: All 114 airlines certified in 16 states (less the mentioned exceptions), Avior Airlines (Venezuela), Iran Aseman Airlines, Iraqi Airways, Blue Wing Airlines (Suriname), Med-View Airlines (Nigeria) and Air Zimbabwe. (ah)
