Lufthansa Cargo adds Rome services to portfolio
Lufthansa Cargo will start marketing ITA Airways’ belly capacity from mid-June 2025, initially on routes from Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to Rome (FCO). Following regulatory approvals, all ITA cargo capacity will gradually be sold under Lufthansa Cargo’s AWB prefix—boosting global belly capacity by nearly 20%. Rome becomes the group’s fifth hub after Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Brussels. ITA’s fleet of 99 Airbus aircraft, including 22 long-haul jets, serves 70 destinations worldwide.
Ashwin Bhat (left, with Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of ITA Airways), CEO Lufthansa Cargo, stated: "Along with our partner ITA Airways, we are excited to offer more attractive routes, capacities and solutions. Rome will help us offer flexible and quality services to our customers, especially to and from Southern Europe." (ah)
