Lithuanian carrier picks UIC data exchange system

Photo: LTG Cargo

LTG Cargo is joining the Orfeus system of the International Union of Railways (UIC) used in the West, which enables cooperating carriers to transfer CIM waybill data. It recently signed a contract with UIC to this effect.

LTG Cargo will probably start to use the system in Q4/2024 after it has completed all the necessary preparations. It is the first company in the railway sector in the Baltic States to choose the Western waybill data submission solution usually used by European standard gauge (1,435 mm) carriers, for cargo transports on the wide (1,520 mm) gauge.

The CIM waybill (consignment note) is a waybill document of a prescribed form for the international transport of goods (cargo) by rail. (ben)
