Higher revenue despite corona pandemic

Notwithstanding the corona pandemic and the costs of the company's restructuring programme, the Swedish rail carrier Green Cargo was able to raise the operating result in Q1/2020 by SEK 14 million (EUR 1.3 million) to SEK -70 million (EUR -6.4 million) compared to the same period last year.
The company also signed several transport contracts with a total value of SEK 146 million (EUR 13.4 million). The improved operating result is mainly due to higher revenue.
According to Green Cargo, the Covid-19 crisis has so far not led to a downturn in railfreight traffic. However, as many industry sectors are hard hit by the pandemic, transport volumes may well experience a decline over the short to medium term, the rail carrier said. (ben)
