Touax Rail has received a EUR 50 million 'green' loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), to expand its freight wagon fleet. Backed by the 'InvestEU' programme, the 14-year finance scheme supports the 'Touax sustainable transportation' project and is in line with EU climate goals.

The funding aims to help increase the availability of leased rail wagons and promote modal shift from road to rail.

"Rail operators can thus develop their more virtuous solutions in freight transport," said Ambroise Fayolle, a vice-president of the European Investment Bank. The loan will enable Touax Rail "to approach the upcoming investment cycle in our freight wagons business with confidence," as Fabrice and Raphaël Walewski, co-managers of Touax, stated.
