Driving innovation in ground support technologies
Sats has signed a three-year mou with ground support equipment (GSE) manufacturer Guangtai, to trial new airport technologies, including a mid-size electric airtug to tow medium passenger aircraft. The trials will take place in real-world airport conditions and support Sats's wider sustainability goals.
Both companies will also collaborate on training, engineering and improving maintenance and design processes. The move supports Sats's strategy to optimise GSE procurement, reduce emissions and modernise its fleet.
"This collaboration gives us access to new technologies and training as we move toward an electrified GSE fleet," said Henry Low (left), CEO of Sats's Singapore Hub. Guangtai president Li highlighted the strategic nature of the partnership to promote smart airports and sustainable aviation. (ah)
