CMA CGM Air Cargo takes over Air Belgium's capacities
CMA CGM has completed the acquisition of Air Belgium’s cargo operations, integrating its aircraft into the CMA CGM Air Cargo fleet and preserving 124 jobs, including 72 pilots. The iconic Air Belgium brand will be retained and continue operating under the CMA CGM umbrella from its Belgian base.
This move strengthens the group’s European air network and enhances its ability to provide tailored freight solutions. The acquisition adds two A330Fs to CMA CGM’s fleet, which now includes nine freighters: four B777Fs, three A330Fs, and two B747Fs. An additional B777F will be added soon, with eight A350Fs on order from 2027.
With hubs in Paris, Chicago and now Belgium, CMA CGM is reinforcing its multimodal strategy and offering shippers integrated, end-to-end logistics options in sea, land and air transport. (ah)
