Cargo growth in Gothenburg

Photo: Port of Gothenburg

Amid global and domestic economic slowdown, the Port of Gothenburg maintains solid cargo volumes, backed by Sweden's resilient export industry. Import dips, reflecting economic caution, are stabilising, with signs of autumn recovery.

The port handled 446,000 teu in H1/2023, up 3% from the previous year. While rail transport faces challenges due to infrastructure work, vehicle handling surged by 12%, and ro-ro and cruise activities are promising. Dry bulk handling and energy products face varied trends, marking the port's resilience in uncertain times. (pb)
