Car logistics company banking on the railways

The Italian carrier Captrain Italia has launched a new rail service. It is now operating twice-weekly rail transports between Piadena in Lombardy and the Italian port of Citaveccia, 70 km north-east of Rome, for its long-standing customer, the German automotive logistics company ARS Altmann.

With the new offer, 30 trucks per trip are shifted from road to rail. Compared to road transport, each rail journey can save around 100 t of CO2. (ben)
