DPD South Africa has appointed Andy Van Der Velde as its new chief executive officer from 15 September 2025.

His appointment follows the passing of former CEO Jason Lombard, who led a significant turnaround at the company. Van Der Velde has more than 25 years of experience in logistics, freight and express services, having held senior roles at UTi, Berco Express and Aramex.

He’s now tasked with continuing DPD South Africa’s positive trajectory and further accelerating its development. Benjamin Démogé, executive vice-president for Africa, the Middle East and Asia at DPD’s parent company Geopost, believes that “we’re now entering a new chapter for DPD in South Africa, building on the foundations laid by the late Jason Lombard. With Andy Van Der Velde’s experience and strategic mindset, we’re confident in the team’s ability to sustain and amplify this momentum. His leadership will be key to unlocking new opportunities and driving long-term success.” (gy)
