Lisbon transport milestone

Photo: Laso

According to its own information Laso has carried out the largest transport ever undertaken in Lisbon, moving a tunnel boring machine for the city’s general drainage plan. The machine measured 95.9 m in length, 7.85 m in width and 7.13 m in height, with a total weight of 637 t. The route ran from Santa Apolónia to Beato and required detailed planning due to its exceptional scale, including a crossing of Av. Infante D. Henrique that caused traffic disruption.

The operation involved about 30 specialists, including engineers, technicians and drivers, supported by a reporting team. To complete the task, Laso deployed its 'Goldhofer Faktor 5 girder bridge', designed for extreme loads and dimensions. (js)
