Friedrichshafen hosts Ccc Plugfest

From 10–15 November, Friedrichshafen will host the CCC Plugfest, bringing together global carmakers, smartphone producers and system providers to advance the digital key standard. Companies including Apple, Samsung and Google will join automotive manufacturers at the event according to a press release by doubleSlash. For the first time, a backend provider, will serve as host for the Car connectivity consortium (Ccc), with doubleSlash taking on the role.
The Ccc is developing a unified standard to replace physical car keys with digital access and start functions via smartphone or smartwatch, aiming to reduce market fragmentation. The digital key underpins new mobility models such as subscriptions, carsharing and on-demand use, while enabling vehicle access and safety features like geo-fencing. (js)
