DP launches Dubai-Iraq RoRo route
DP World has launched a new 36-hour maritime RoRo service linking Dubai’s Mina Rashid with Umm Qasr Port in Iraq, aiming to offer an alternative to overland trucking for non-containerised cargo. Operated weekly by the upgraded "DP World Express", the service can carry up to 145 accompanied trailers per sailing, with drivers travelling on board as the company reported.
DP World said the link responds to demand for faster and more controlled trailer movements between the UAE and Iraq, while also supporting onward connections into Jordan and Syria via established inland corridors. The return leg will transport Iraqi export cargo back to the UAE, supporting two-way trade. The company added that the maritime option can also reduce CO₂ emissions compared with alternative transport solutions.
