DHL, Geberit re-use plastic

DHL Express Germany and sanitary technology manufacturer Geberit have introduced reusable pallet wraps to reduce plastic waste in logistics.
The solution replaces single-use stretch film for securing consolidated shipments on pallets, aiming to support a circular economy and improve sustainability in transport. The wraps have been tested across Europe and are now used to move Geberit products from the distribution centre in Pfullendorf, near Lake Constance, to a DHL station in Stuttgart before international forwarding.
"Sustainable innovation and trusted cooperation are the keys to success," said Mustafa Tonguç, CEO of DHL Express Germany. Michael Stehle, head of transport management at Geberit, added that the solution protects sanitary products while conserving resources. DHL stated the initiative demonstrates how customer solutions can cut packaging waste and improve logistics efficiency. Plans are in place to roll out the system to other customers. (js)
