ASL Airlines Australia has begun operating its first Trans-Tasman flights for FedEx, linking Christchurch with Melbourne and Sydney. The milestone follows the arrival of the carrier’s second Boeing 737-800BCF, now providing dedicated express cargo capacity between Australia and New Zealand.

The 737-800BCF offers not only greater payload and range but also improved fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions compared to earlier models, supporting FedEx’s sustainability goals. ASL said the new operations will enhance reliability for time-critical shipments while strengthening supply chains across the region.

"These flights mark just the beginning of our Trans-Tasman presence," the airline stated, noting plans to grow its role in connecting businesses and communities on both sides of the Tasman Sea. (ah)
