The International Maritime Organization (IMO), the United Nations agency in charge of regulating global shipping, has expanded its ‘IMO Compendium’ to include a new ‘Fuel oil consumption and CII reporting dataset’, with 140 harmonised data fields.

Developed by the ‘Smart Maritime Council’ – which includes ABS, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, DNV and Lloyd’s Register – in collaboration with Bimco, IACS and Energy Leap, the dataset supports emissions reporting for IMO DCS, EU MRV, CII and FuelEU Maritime.

“Introducing these standards creates huge opportunity to streamline reporting and improve data quality,” said Rob O’Dwyer, chairman of the ‘Smart Maritime Council’. With classification societies acting as accredited verifiers, the dataset will help ensure more efficient workflows and trustworthy data in the global industry. The updated compendium is available on the IMO website. (ah)
