Brussels Airport has inaugurated "Brucargo Central", an 83,500 sqm (equivalent to twelve football fields) sustainable logistics hub that increases cargo storage capacity at the airport by 30%.

The EUR70 million project replaces eight old buildings with three modern warehouses and offices (totaling 34,000 sqm) designed to meet growing airfreight demand, especially in pharmaceuticals, food and e-commerce. The redevelopment also cuts paved areas by 20% to create green spaces and improve on-site mobility.

The new facilities – used by DSV (12,600 sqm), Nippon Express (10,000 sqm), Deny Cargo (2,500 sqm), Hazgo (2,000 sqm) and EV Cargo and – include 10,000 sqm of additional temperature-controlled space, solar panels, heat pumps and charging stations for electric vehicles, all contributing to Brussels Airport’s net-zero target for 2030.
